DEVENDRA BANHART & MCLUSKY SINGLES
::: 28 April 2004

Already a favourite on the current playlist, this week sees the release of the first Devendra Banhart record on XL Recordings. 'Here Are Four Songs From Rejoicing In The Hands Of The Golden Empires' as a digital single. As always our digital singles comes as a bundled download complete with full colour printable CD artwork and this one's only 3 pounds.

This week also sees the welcome release of a new fix of mclusky. 'That Man Will Not Hang' is the first single to be taken from mclusky's forthcoming album, 'The Difference Between Me And You Is That I’m Not On Fire'. The new album was all recorded at the tail end of last year by Steve Albini in his Illinois studio after they had completed their inaugural Australian tour. The single is released this week - and it is available as a digital single. The album release follows on the 17th of May. Click here to buy the digital single

WANT TO WIN A PLAYSTATION2?
::: 28 April 2004

They've been making a splash on our playlist and now they're offering you the chance to win a Playstation2... all they want you to do is to play with their dolls!! Ok, that could have been phrased better...

Let's start again... Ratatat is Evan Mast and Mike Stroud. They live in the Crown Heights district of Brooklyn, NY. Together they made a self-titled instrumental album for XL Recordings - its available now. XL have made some paper dolls of Evan and Mike along with their guitars and amps. You should be able to find them in your local independent record store. If not, you could always download and print them from the Ratatat dolls web site. The dolls look good anywhere. You could leave it at that. Or you could take it one step further... take it far enough and you're in with a chance of winning a Playstation2. Take photographs Evan and Mike in your chosen context. You can upload your pictures onto our mini Ratatat dolls site. We'll keep archiving the pictures in our gallery until the end of June when we'll ask Mike and evan to pick out their favourite photo to win the PS2.

EXCLUSIVE PIXIES RELEASE!
:::19 April 2004

There are times when things are just great - as fine and dandy as can be - right now is one of those times... Why? We have news of a Pixies digital single with exclusive live tracks on it. The tracklisting is Where Is My Mind?, Planet Of Sound (live), Tame (live), Debaser (live). ' Planet Of Sound' and 'Tame' were recorded live at London's Brixton academy back in 1991, while the live version of Debaser is from a show at the Cabaret Metro in Chicago in 1989. All of this is available to download PLUS high quality artwork in PDF format and a big grin for the rest of the week, and all for a positively puny three English pounds (that's the price of a pint here in London!) You should also check out the new Pixies fan site - www.ilovepixies.com

There's more great news from the 4AD - Vinny Miller's long awaited amazing album 'On the Block' has just been released and it will be the first 4AD album to also be available as a digital album.

DIGITAL MINI ALBUM
::: 5 April 2004

Fifty Foot Wave is Kristin Hersh (guitar, vocals), Bernard Georges (bass), and Rob Ahlers (drums). It's not Throwing Muses - 50 Foot Wave is harder, faster, more intense and built from the ground up to be a band to see live. Look for lots of touring - about 100 shows a year. The band plans to release a 6-song CD every 9 months or so. The first CD is out on the 3rd May in UK shops but right here, right now you can buy the mini album as a digital download (printable artwork and all) - all for £4.50... Thank god for technology! More about the band at www.4ad.com
